JUNE 2022 SPOTLIGHT: LATICIA HARRIS
Each month we spotlight one of our members. This time around, we feature a poem from Laticia Harris. Laticia has been a writer since grade school. Her first (illustrated!) story, circa third grade, was about a little lost bird. Today, Laticia mostly writes poetry.
We hope you enjoy her work!
What Should I Be Today?
I’d like to be a pterodactyl,
wind holding my naked form
between the waters.
Or else a dragon,
talons clothed in treasure,
caressing sky into submission.
But there’s always someone chasing us,
and you can’t shift
as I do.
So I must be a car instead,
exploding tamely, carrying you.
