Just Push Send

Just Push Send

Success is defined by Google as “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” There are many ideas as to what an accomplishment, aim, or purpose would look like for every person. Some may say it is wealth, a relationship, fame, or even getting out of bed on a Monday. It depends on what you are seeking to define as your success. As a writer, success could equal publication or perhaps a paycheck.

I wonder if success could also be defined as having the courage to push send on submitting something. The odds are 50/50 for publication; however, at least you submitted a piece of your work for consideration.

I struggle with pushing send. It is not because I am worried about rejection of my work. Did I mention we have three daughters, and I was a Special Education Teacher for many years — so criticism and rejection…been there and done that many times.

The concept of being published is scary to me. What if I really am a writer? What if something I have written might be shared with everyone? I realize it seems trivial to fear success, yet at the same token, I do.

For me, the ability to “push send” is my success. What is yours?
