Barry Brown
Barry Brown is a White County native, back home after living in seven states and four foreign countries, the military prison at Fort Leavenworth and seven locations in the federal bureau of prisons.
His education is diverse, holding an undergraduate degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, a masters in business, and a Juris Doctorate. He is self-taught in Spanish and Koine Greek. He is a certified trainer and sports nutrition specialist.
His writing is also diverse. He has written and illustrated numerous children’s picture books in varying degrees of completion. His political satire book Animal Zoo is available on Amazon. It is published using the pen name Orso Marrone and is a companion to George Orwell’s Animal Farm, but with the United States as the subject matter. He writes articles regularly for Hobby Farms magazine.
His current projects include a spiritual/theological book entitled I AM, a series of small books involving farming practices on integral farms, and a view into life at Fort Leavenworth entitled One Day in the Life of John Denison.
He writes award-winning poetry, essays, and short stories. He also writes poetry, essays, and short stories that are not award-winning. Barry often gets more of a kick out of his writing than the judges do.
Barry lives on a 40 acre farm on the fringes of Searcy with his wonderful wife, Lori. He raises Dexter cattle for milk and meat, dairy goats, chickens, ducks, and an inordinate number of dogs. Between the farm and watching grandchildren, it is a wonder he gets anything written at all. The preceding time constraints result in his garden being atrocious.
