K.L. NealK.L. Neal

An Arkansas native, K.L. Neal is a multi-genre author and poet from Central Arkansas, whose first stories were for elementary class assignments. Raised in the suburbs until age eleven, her family moved to rural Arkansas, transplanting her outdoor roots into an environment where she could flourish. Over time, she forgot her joy in the craft, not returning to it until 2019 when a conversation with her mother about literature led to the life-changing statement: “You know, you could do that.”

One conversation launched a career. Business professional by day, writer by night, Neal has written 3 poetry books, several short stories, and is developing her first novel. In college, she competed in the Jo Cleveland Writing Contest, winning two 2nd place awards in short story, a 3rd place finish in poetry, and honorable mentions in both categories.

Her published works include a standalone series of 3 poetry books: The Things I Never Said (2023), Little Domestic Things (2024), and Colors of a Sunset (2024). These will soon be combined into an illustrated anthology titled Runner, featuring select poems and hand-drawn artwork. Her first novel, To Rescue a Smile, is currently in progress with release dates to be announced on her social media accounts.

Drawing inspiration from her rural environment, suburban upbringing, and affinity for history, her stories explore legacy, authenticity, and the quiet strength of the human spirit. With poetic roots, Neal’s repertoire now spans into short fiction and novels that embody themes of raw grit, tenacity, and sheer humanity at its most vulnerable form.

When not writing, she can be found analyzing stories, daydreaming about business operations, and scouring the internet for her next favorite recipe. Connect with her on Instagram @klnealauthor.
