Agenda for the January, 2016 meeting…

It’s all about Poetry! The January meeting will be a discussion of the different forms of poetry, and what works – or doesn’t – for you. We will be sharing our work. In addition, we will be working on the formation of a new branch of Poets’ Roundtable of Arkansas for the Searcy/White County Area. The current president of PRA, Dennis Patton, will be joining us. If you and/or a friend are interested in poetry, please join us for this session. Bring samples of your work. ALL poets are welcome…don’t be shy!

The White County Creative Writers group kicked off the new year by announcing its officer lineup and making a donation to the Searcy Library Building Fund.

Heading up the new leadership roles are Rhonda Roberts, president; Kim Vernon, vice president and treasurer; Lilly Hobbs, secretary; Del Garrett, press agent; and Chris Henderson, conference chairperson.

“We look forward to seeing what new and exciting events will take place in 2016,” said Roberts. “The White County Creative Writers are here to help members and prospective writers with their writing needs. We hope to inspire everyone to take a step forward in the world of writing — write the next bestselling novel, express yourself in poetry, enter and win contests, or just leave a legacy of stories for your children and grandchildren.”

White County Creative Writers donated $100 to the White County Public Library Friends Foundation for the Searcy library building fund.

“We are very much a part of the local community and happy to help the library grow since it provides such fantastic services to the people here,” she said.

Roberts added that WCCW holds many community projects such as an annual poetry reading in celebration of National Poetry Day, writing contests for local students and that the group sponsors one of the largest annual writing conference and contest opportunities in the state.
